Portola, CA CCS coming?

Plugshare shows a new "coming soon" for EV-Range CCS fast chargers coming for Portola, CA (this is NOT "Portola Valley, CA") on CA highway 70. Any estimates of when this should be completed?

But the problem there is, there are no more CCS charge stations for quite a distance (or even J-plugs) from there, other than here in Reno. But this is sure a good start to get something away from the major cities in that area of CA.

I sure would like to see more concrete evidence of this before even adding it as a Planned site. Maybe someone can try to locate some online permits that would lend a bit more credibility than a Plugshare entry with no comments/checkins/pictures.

I go by there quite often and I know the exact spot shown on Plugshare. In fact, I was very close to there yesterday while I charged here.

I will mention here when I see some construction started.

I knew charge stations were in the works there, but I didn't expect CCS, I assumed J-plugs. See here. Down the page a bit where it says "Master Charging Station Licensing Agreement / EV Range Inc.".

So there is a little more credibility than only Plugshare.

I went by there yesterday. No trace of anything new after a year. No new construction has started.

I wonder how many years "coming soon" means on Plugshare.

The charger construction has started at Caboose Park in Portola, CA.

nice its a much needed spot as there is not much on 70
Yep. Especially for my high Sierra mountain rides on my Emergica motorcycles. It's a nice ride from there down through Graeagle to Truckee and then back to Reno (my other house). I can charge again in Truckee if I need to.

I am surprised there is no place to charge on Hwy 395 @ Hwy 70 north of there all the way to Susanville. And no CCS in Susanville. Not even at the Wal*Mart there. The large Chevron gas station at Hallelujah Junction, CA would also be a great spot for chargers, but there is nothing there. Not even a J-1772 in that area.

im surprised that there is nothing but a few L2's in a decent size city such as oroville.

Yep, even CA has quite a ways to go.

But NV is worse. They are going backward. More EVs than ever but fewer places to charge them. I could ride to more places five years ago on my electric motorcycles than I can in Nevada today.

The DC Fast chargers are now dead in Hawthorne, Incline Village, Fallon, Rhy Patch, MiddleGate, & Goldfield, NV which all worked five years ago.

At least CA is getting some new locations and some of their older CCS chargers get repaired. In NV, they just rot away when they break. Nobody repairs any of them. I have yet to see even one CCS repaired in NV.

Here in CA, they like to group all the chargers together in places such as Sacramento. I wish they could spread them out better.

Here is your "concrete" evidence--literally--showing the concrete there at Caboose park in Portola:

But it sure is a slow process. why does it always take years?
