My problems with CCS yesterday

Yesterday, I went with a buddy, Dave, up to Red Bluff and then rode back down to Yuba City which is around 100 miles. In Yuba City, there are two fast charge locations with four chargers each. We did not try this one, as it has been down for months, as are countless CCS chargers which never get repaired.

We could not get any of the chargers to work with either of our bikes. Not sure what the issue was, but it was hopeless. Called the tech support which was a waste of time. So then the only thing we could do is use the slow J-1772 charge stations after a short ride to the Hard Rock Casino in Wheatland, CA where they have four very slow AC charge stations. The Idea was to get enough charge just to make it to Sacramento to get to a fast charger.

But we get to the casino and all four AC charge stations are being used. So we have to wait for somebody to come back and leave. That took about two hours for the first person to come back and drive their car away. In another half hour, another car left the charge station. So now we are both slow charging, we had to charge for about 1.5 hours to make it to a fast charger in Sacramento where a 15-minute charge will get us home. All was fine in Sacramento and from there, we split up and went home in different directions. Dave lives in Stockton, CA.

Still was a fun trip. We just spent a lot of time BSing while we were waiting. We came close to calling for a tow truck, but never did. The 318-mile ride yesterday was my longest ride on an electric motorcycle. But Dave has gone across the USA and back on his and then put on 6,000 miles on his electric.

The places we had problems with are here and here. Not a single charger in all of Yuba City would work for either of us. We didn't get home until after midnight.
