Inclusion of CCS Enabled Superchargers

A question that needs an answer soon than later. Will this site list CCS enabled Tesla Superchargers? My vote is for YES!

I guess it depends on how the folks at supercharge.info & teslamotorsclub.com handle it.

Yes, I would like to include those sites here as well, just as I already handle stations here with Tesla connectors (mostly EVgo, but I've seen at least one instance of a non-EVgo site that is apparently using a CCS adapter to enable Tesla charging).

I don't necessarily want to duplicate their efforts/discussion, as I consider this site a sister site of theirs. So for example, would it make sense to have two threads for the same CCS-enabled Supercharger site, or just point my pin over to their forum?

And will supercharge.info allow for filtering of CCS-enabled sites? If not, clearly there is value to add those sites here.

Good question though.

I doubt there will be serious discussion on the efficacy of CCS magic dock (or whatever it's called) stalls on TMC. So, I do think it would be helpful to have a separate forum listing on this site to cover any CCS specific issues.

I also don't think drivers of CCS cars will frequent supercharge.info to find CCS Tesla locations. Seems more likely it would be here/Plugshare/etc.

Well, turns out we are already at a decision point on this item!

I have added an entry for the Tesla Supercharger in Verona, NY (Turning Stone Casino) which apparently had Magic Docks installed recently (today?) Link to map: fastcharger.info

I'm not sure if they are operational yet (well, actually I know they are not because the Tesla App does not currently show that site for "Charge Your Non-Tesla" so there is no way to unlock the Magic Dock), so I have listed it as under Construction for now.

Regarding the forum pointer, for now I have pointed back to the teslamotorsclub.com thread for this Supercharger, but let's discuss. I know so far the feeling is that there should be an independent thread here. And I do understand the rationale for that opinion, but I still think that at least for now there is likely to be more real-time information of the site as a whole on TMC (including things like issues with the site, descriptions and availability of nearby amenities, etc. Maybe a compromise solution would be to create a forum entry here with a pointer to the TMC thread. Anyway, would appreciate your thoughts.

A few more Magic Docks have been found in Brewster and Red Hook, NY. I wonder how many others are out there already? Still nothing showing in the app though, so doesn't appear that these would function as CCS chargers yet (no way to unlock and authorize).

Are you sure that these locations actually have the "Magic Dock"?

I have only heard of one location in NY so far.

Yes...other than Ballston Spa, NY, which doesn't yet have photographic evidence, the others have had pictures and/or video as supporting evidence. The one in Red Hook NY is most certainly authentic as it is a video and shows the Hannaford store in the background.

I agree you're likely to have more interaction on the TMC threads. However, I expect issues identified there will be NACS related more than CCS related, especially long term. Or there will be people complaining about CCS vehicles blocking stalls :).

I just don't think folks with CCS vehicles are going to go in search of information on a Tesla forum, thus my opinion that the threads here should be the dominate ones for CCS discussion.

Yeah, I think I am coming around to the opinion of pointing the Discuss link here, but including a post (that I may may sticky) pointing back to the TMC thread.

So if there is a site like the one listed above that has BOTH an EA station and a Supercharger w/ CCS will it need TWO threads?

Off the top of my head I can't think of any site that has two CCS vendors until this site, usually if ChargePoint is there they are not encroached by EA or EVgo

EDIT: OK, I remembered the Marina Supercharger, that's ChargePoint, EVgo and Supercharging all in front of one store with separate pins on the FC.info site

Say, why is it Supercharge.info and yet FastchargeR.info? Wouldn't Fastcharge.info have made it that much more of a sister site? The domain is still available...

Yes, I think it would require two threads (as dealing with the different networks/hardware is going to be a valid topic of discussion).

There are actually quite a lot of co-sited locations like the one you mentioned. Many times at shopping malls. In these instances I have usually had to add "- Electrify America" and "- Volta" to the name to differentiate.

Add me to team of have a thread for Magic Dock enabled Superchargers here.

It could also have beneficial information on what spots work best for what cars, which chargers have the Dock (if there are only a few per location), etc. per each location.

I think there would be a lot of content beneficial that non-Tesla owners would not be as concerned about.

The Magic Dock sites have gone LIVE in the Tesla app, so I will move them all to OPEN now!
